SMM 2026 in Hamburg offers maritime start-ups a dedicated platform to present their solutions, gain industry visibility and connect with relevant stakeholders in an international trade fair environment.
As part of the Maritime Start-up Day and Night on 2nd September 2026, selected start-ups will have the opportunity to exhibit their company, pitch on stage and network with decision-makers, potential customers, cooperation partners, investors and media representatives.
The format is designed to bring maritime innovation to the forefront and create meaningful business connections within the global maritime industry.

The Maritime Start-up Day and Night 2026 is a dedicated event format within SMM 2026, bringing together maritime start-ups, industry players and innovation stakeholders.
In front of the SMM audience, the Start-ups present their innovation products in pitches to an assigned jury. At least, the best pitch is nominated and awarded as the best Maritime Start-up 2026. Let´s round up this event with a networking get-together with music, some drinks & foods.

WindTracX
Windtracx flies a fully autonomous, powered rigid wing above the vessel — more than a kite, not a deck sail — at ~300 m altitude, where wind is stronger, steadier and more consistent than at sea level. A figure-8 flight path drives high apparent wind speed, generating far more traction than fixed sails, and the system excels in tailwinds, exactly where deck-based solutions lose efficiency. Full powered control through take-off, flight and landing — with total redundancy in propulsion and 9 control surfaces — removes the failure risks of passive soft kites. An onboard weather station also feeds real-time, altitude-level data into voyage optimisation, boosting fuel savings beyond what satellite forecasts alone can achieve.
